“What will happen on my first visit?”

This seems to be what everyone wants to know before they will even take a step in the door. This is certainly understandable if you’ve never been to see a chiropractor before.

You likely wouldn’t walk into a restaurant without knowing what type of food was served, you wouldn’t walk into a doctor’s office without knowing what to expect.

If you’ve never been to a chiropractor before, you likely already have a lot of questions and a lot of ideas about what a chiropractor does. So let’s talk about what will happen on your very first visit to our office.

QUALITY AND QUANTITY

Most of us want quantity and quality in our life. We want to live as long as possible and we also want our quality of life to be maintained throughout the years. Your options to achieve these goals are numerous. From surgeons and prescription drugs to spiritual healers and water fasts, the array of choices for the healthcare consumer can be overwhelming. In today’s information age it is hard to keep up to date with accurate and verifiable health information.

THE OFFICE VISIT

What people need is a health coach. They need a doctor that will take the time and have the knowledge to direct them to the best options for their health. They need a doctor who will inform them about the risks and rewards of their treatment options and allow them to decide what is best. Dr. Skolnikoff has gotten the proper training and geared his practice around being that health coach for his patients. A routine office visit includes about 45 minutes of face-to-face time with the doctor. Dr. Skolnikoff will be your advocate, your mentor, and your coach.

THE NEW PATIENT HEALTH HISTORY & PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

An initial exam with Dr. Skolnikoff spans from 30 minutes to an hour as he searches out the causes of your health imbalances. This is very different than focusing on conditions or symptoms. During the exam you will begin to learn how you can benefit from our unique services that focus on health and not on symptoms, condition or disease. Many health care providers will attempt to diagnose multiple causes of their patient’s health imbalances in just a few minutes or send their patient to a specialist who can take care of their symptoms with some form of pricey surgery or drug while the causes of the symptoms still remain undiagnosed and may fester and grow into greater health concerns. When the practitioner focuses on health the doctor needs to take a broad view of the patient’s life which cannot be done in just a few minutes. Dr. Skolnikoff will audio record your examination in order to make sure he does not miss anything and to be able to review it later. After spending about an hour or so with you we can usually ascertain what is causing your health difficulties. As long as we think that we can help you with your health, we will then set up a separate appointment for you to come back into the office at which time we will review the findings of your history and examination. In the time between these two office appointments, Dr. Skolnikoff will review the recording and your examination findings and prepare your report / diagnosis for your review. The “report of findings” will thoroughly and clearly reveals your examination findings while presenting a specific and easy to follow plan that will take you from the symptoms you currently experience to the “I Feel Good” phase of Dr. Skolnikoff’s “Path to Health” program. It is during this time that we will review 9 different affordable payment options with you and give you a clear indication of how much time will be required to help you get the results you are looking for with our program. During the Report of Findings, the majority of people are able to understand how we can help them resolve their health concerns and improve their lives with a new model of health care that is based on health instead of symptoms and disease…..a model that helps to free people of expensive surgeries and medications in the majority of cases. Dr. Skolnikoff is happy to refer his patients to the appropriate specialists when needed. Whether the specialist would be an MD or a licensed optometrist, Dr. Skolnikoff will make sure that if he cannot help you directly he will find you a doctor who can.

THE REPORT OF FINDINGS FROM THE NEW PATIENT HISTORY AND PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

The report of findings may require 15, 30 or even 60 minutes in order to clearly and thoroughly review the results of the examination and their implications. At this time a specific and easy to follow plan will be presented to you that will take you from the symptoms you currently experience to the “I Feel Good” phase of Dr. Skolnikoff’s “Path to Health” program. At this time we will review 9 different affordable payment options and give you a clear indication of how much time will be required to help you get the results you are looking for with our program. During the Report of Findings, the majority of people are able to understand how we can help them resolve their health concerns and improve their lives with a new model of health care that is based on health instead of symptoms and disease…..a model that helps to free people of expensive surgeries and medications in the majority of cases. Dr. Skolnikoff is happy to refer his patients to the appropriate specialists when needed. Whether the specialist would be an MD or a licensed acupuncturist, Dr. Skolnikoff will make sure that if he cannot help you directly he will find you a practitioner who can. Referrals to other health care providers are made often.

If you live more than an hour away, then there may be an exception made for you and the Report of Findings can be done on the day of the examination after the Doctor’s review of your examination findings. However, it may be too much information to go over the entire history, physical examination, report of findings, payment options and health care plan in a single day. The information sometimes seems jumbled to our patients when this happens and so this is why we encourage you to schedule a separate appointment for a future day when you can absorb more of the information (although this may not be convenient if you have flown in from out of town). The report of findings is a thorough and in depth explanation of what was found out about the patient’s health during the history and physical examination. It is a 9 – 11 page explanation of what is wrong as well as how the structural, chemical and emotional therapies offered at Triad Of Health can help. A clear picture of how quickly you can expect to experience health improvements with the Triad of Health system of checks and balances will be presented.
